Clearing the way for native planting in 2027

Friends of Bullock Creek’s volunteers have spent the past two months clearing exotic trees and plants, mostly cotoneaster and blackberry, to make room for native planting in 2027.

With much of the initial clearing complete, the focus is now turning to the live stumps and stems left behind. This week, volunteers began “cut and paste” work, which involves cutting remaining growth and applying a targeted treatment to help prevent regrowth.

This work will continue through spring and summer 2026, preparing these areas for next year’s native plants.

A big thank you to our volunteers for the time and effort they put into this essential groundwork. Every area cleared brings us a step closer to more native planting at Bullock Creek.
