2016 - Reclaiming the wetlands from the jungle

In 2016, volunteers from the Wanaka Residents Association (prior to the formation of FOBC in 2018) began the Wetland Restoration project. At that time, the 2.7ha was covered by self sown exotic trees and invasive weeds. Very little native NZ vegetation existed.
